Police Compensation Scheme

Published on

A new Police Compensation Scheme will be introduced for Police Officers and Aboriginal Police Liaison Officers who are medically retired due to work-related illness or injury. This scheme will enhance the level of care and support provided to officers who are no longer able to serve as a result of being injured in the line of duty.

This scheme will supplement rather than replace existing in-service and post-service entitlements, including the Former Officers' Medical Benefits Scheme, it has received in-principle support from the Western Australia Police Union.

On 21 October 2021, the Bill for the Police Compensation Scheme was introduced into Parliament, and on 8 December 2021 it was passed by the Western Australian Parliament.
