Support Advice and Coordination

If your loved one becomes ill or injured, our goal is to help them re-build their strength and recover.  We coordinate and manage this process to make sure the types of duties undertaken and the hours worked will provide the best chance for this recovery.

Ill/injured employees have access to professional workplace rehabilitation consultants either within or outside of WA Police Force.

Police officers are managed by our internal team of consultants who provide an important link between medical specialists and the workplace.  Our team of professionals have the advantage of understanding the demands of being a police officer and how to navigate our policies to get the best outcome in the interests of recovery.

Police staff and police auxiliary officers can use workplace rehabilitation providers of their choice outside of the agency as they are covered by the state workers’ compensation scheme.

Managers and supervisors play a very important role in supporting recovery within safe work guidelines.  Advice and guidance is available for managers to make sure they understand and supported through the rehabilitation process for their officer, staff member or PAO team member.

The internal consultants also work with the broader team at Heath, Welfare and Safety to make sure your loved one has the benefit of informed and shared decisions about how to best support rehabilitation involving the perspectives of specialists in the fields of injury coordination and welfare, including chaplains; workplace rehabilitation; safety; claims; psychology; consulting Occupational Physicians and a Psychiatrist.
